More Card Class

This first card is stamped with the new stamp set called Artistic Etchings.  The large white layer is embossed with the embossing folder called Square Lattice.

This next card is using the set called Just Believe.  I love this set. This card is using some of the new colors.  Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze and Early Espresso.

This card is another one that I did not make.  I got it at convention from Deanna Smith.  It's so simple but somehow I never see these things when I look at a punch.  The brown part of the cat tail is just the word window punch.

This card is made with the Countryside stamp set.  It's another great set for masculine cards.  And on this one I finally did something that I don't do often enough.  I quit hording my Smooch Spritz and by the time we were done with this card there was no more Spritz left.  This color is called Log Cabin.  It also comes in gold and silver.  It just adds a little pizzaz to your back ground.  Of course some people would tell you that they don't like it because it takes a little practice to get it just right.  A couple of the ladies had really dark cards.

Card class

Here's a few cards from card class last night. This first one is a level one hostess set called Because I Care. I didn't design this card. I got it in a swap at convention and it was made by Sylvie Drader. The background was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

This second card is using a new stamp set called In Wilderness. Again, I got this as a swap at convention. It was made by Nancy Lanter. I love this set because I always need more masculine cards.

This last one is called On The Green. It's a single stamp that's only $9.95. And this one I designed myself. It's pretty simple but great for a golfer. And I had a couple of ladies that said that they didn't have any golfer's to give it to so they just changed the image to something else.

Oh no, not again.

Last year I ran into bad weather while coming home from convention and didn't make it home until one day later. Last night I got into Chicago and my flight to Detroit was delayed because of bad weather somewhere down South. Finally left Chicago about 10:00. I was really glad that I had already decided to spend the night in Detroit because there's no way I could have driven home at 1:00 in the morning. So I finally made it home about 2:30 this afternoon after hitting the gas station and the grocery store. Got my suitcases emptied and laundry going. Home sweet home.

Convention is over

Today we did nothing but lay around and rest. Finally decided that we needed to sort and pack our suitcases. It's a good thing I brought an extra duffle bag. It's full and so is my suitcase. I'm flying out tomorrow afternoon and since it will be so late when I get to Detroit I decided to stay there for the night and I'll be home on Tues. Then it's work, work, work getting ready for my card class on Thurs. If you want to come just let me know. I do want you to know that I had to raise my prices a little because Stampin Up! raised all their prices. It's now $12.00 or free with an $18.00 order. Maybe I'll see you on Thursday???
Well today was the last day of convention. Stampin Up! announced a few new specials for Sept. so you'll have to check them out when they come out. I would tell you about them but I didn't write down the details so I'm not sure exactly what they are, except that they are bundles of product.

Here's some pictures of items made with the new Stampin Up! fabric that is being introduced in the Holiday Mini. If you would like to see some things made of fabric you should plan on attending Ronda's New Catalog Kick Off on August 21st. Check out her blog for details. www.stampwithronda.com

The above is a notebook covered with fabric and a few buttons and some ribbon.

Here's a cute purse. I saw a really cute purse made with the pennant die. I'm going to try making one out of the new fabric.

Here's a cute lampshade that has the regualr shade removed and then covered with ribbon's and fabric flowers.

This is one of Shelli Gardner's daughters, Sara. Notice the rhinestones on her forehead and around her eye? You can get these. Just let me know. And they come in black. How cool would that be for Halloween.
Convention ended with a big bang. There were no new product announcements but we all (2700 people) got a stamp set, Designer Series Paper and some of the new glass glitter out of the mini. I can hardly wait to show you. And because I was in the recruit crew I got a tie dyed lanyard for my name badge.
You should all have the Holiday mini by now. If you don't then please let me know. I've already got a wish list about a mile long. I want everything. But there will have to be a limit.
Well, it's about 11:00 here so I'm thinking about going to bed. Tomorrow will be wonderful. We're not going to set the alarm.

Still here at convention

Well it's still hot here in sunny Utah. I'm not going to post many pictures until I get home because trying to load them using my little card reader is so hard to do. I need to study the instructions a lot more.
So far we haven't seen any new things but all of the stuff in the Holdiay Mini is here and we've seen it and played with it and now I have to have it.
Here's a couple of pictures of some Halloweeb decor made with things out of the mini. They're so cool I might have to offer some type of Halloween class. What do you think?
Aren't the white pumpkins cute? They have decor elements and some of the new jewels on them.
Do you like the skeleton paper chain. You can't see all the bling but believe me it's there. And the tree is wonderful. It's an advent tree. There's a little treat for each day of October leading up to Haloween.
Last night a bunch of us went to the Macaroni Grill for an early supper. Wish there was one of those around home. Then we changed our clothes and went to awards night. Our Rubber Queen leader, Ronda Wade, is # 17 in the whole company. She said that it was her best year ever because she started a training business this year for demo's and 14 of her trainee's received awards last night. Way to go Ronda.
Right after all the awards were given out they had entertainment. But I was so tired that Sandi and I just came back to the hotel. I put my pj's on and I never heard another things until about 5:00 this morning.
I did get to do one thing that no one else in our group got to do. I went to breakfast with Shelli Gardner. Me and about 200 other people. I was because I had a recruit in the last three months and I belong to the recruit crew.
Tonight after classes I went to a Mexican restaurant called the Blue Iguana with Brenda and Dianne. The food was terrific and they had a mariachi band playing. Then they went to the Brighton jewelry store but I came back to the room and now at 9:44 I'm going to get into bed and call it a day. More tomorrow.

Convention - Day 2

This is kind of a mish mash of pictures because they didn't load in the order that I wanted. Okay, I didn't put them in the right order.
This first picture is of Shelli and Sterling Gardner, the founder of Stampin Up! There was a Flower Power party tonight and everyone was suspose to dress like they did in the 60's
.
We played games in order to get our names in a drawing and on the scavenger hunt one of the items was a picture of ourselves with someone wearing bell bottom jeans. I don't know who this girl is but she got her picture taken quite a few times.

I don't know who these people are but they really got into the theme.

This picture is one of the displays that was set up. It was like a candy shop but everything was an accessory from Stampin Up! There were several of these cabinets and they were beautiful.
This tray of chocolate candy is really just paper and ribbon and brads and I don't know what else. Doesn't it look delicious?

Here's another display cabinet.

And this next picture is one that I took yesterday. It's the view out of our window.

Well, that's it for tonight. Being a flower child takes a lot out of an old person and I need my sleep. More tomorrow.

Salt Lake City

I'm finally here in Salt Lake City. Got in about 4:30 (Utah time) and came to the hotel and made a mess. Finally got my clothes hung up and then we decided to go and get something to eat. Sandi Dailey is my room mate and we just went downstairs and had soup and salad. Then Sandi ordered a banana split with two spoons and two plates. So now I'm stuffed. But it's only 9:18 (Utah time) and we're heading for bed. I took a couple of pictures out our window but I'll post them tomorrow. Gotta go now.

Almost ready

Well I'm almost ready for convention. Just a family reunion and about 4 loads of laundry between me and Salt Lake. My swaps are done and packed, I've got a list about a mile long and a ton of things just waiting to be packed. I'm really excited. Convention is really a great time. There's so many new things to see and we always eat good, that's the most important, and we meet lots of new friends. It's exciting to meet people whom we've seen in the Stampin Success magazine or online in one of the many stamping groups. And there's a few people in our own Rubber Queens that I'm not real well acquainted with that are going so I'll get to know them a little better.
Anyway, I didn't take any pictures of my swaps so you'll have to wait for them but here's a cute little picture holder. It's only a big binder clip turned upside down and sitting on the table. You can decorate it and it's just the right size to hold a wallet picture. When you get school pictures of your children or grandchildren and just need a little spot to put them this is perfect for a desk top or a shelf. I decorated mine with some of the retired ribbon and paper that is still floating around the Paper Palace. The little cutie in the picture is my great niece Allie.

Magnolia Flower

Yesterday the Rubber Queens had an all day event where we made 20 cards using all new colors and new stamp sets. It was a great day. We also had some demonstrations. I showed some paper flowers. Here is the first one, an Easter lily. It's not very hard to make and you can find the instructions here. http://valitasfreshfolds.blogspot.com/2010/06/punched-paper-lily.html

These next little flowers are made with the five petal punch. I made mine look like Tiger lily's but they could also be Easter lilies. The instructions are here. http://stampinking.blogspot.com/2010/03/easter-lilly-tutorial.html

Here's a magnolia flower decorating a box. I got the box at a dollar store and I sprayed it gold. The sides are brushed gold paper, stamped and embossed with gold. And I just realized that Stampin Up! doesn't carry the gold ink pads any more. Darn. The flower is Very Vanilla and thwacked with gold.

And here's the rest of my display. I tried to think of things that you could do with the magnolia flower besides decorating a box. They can't be used on a card or a scrapbook page because they're to big so I decided to go with a wedding theme. The purse hanging on the right side of the menu frame can be used for a brides emergency kit. Put in a lot of little things that might be needed by a bride. Ex. nail polish, sewing kit, tums, chewing gum, hair pins, extra nylons, etc. There are many things that could be used. Just try to keep it to small items.

You can see a video on You Tube for instructions to make the magnolis flower. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlczsCli5pg&feature=player_embedded
Well, that's it for today. Got to get back to my convention swaps.

Sticky Pages

I haven't posted lately because I've been working on my convention swaps and stuff for next Saturday. Ronda's having an all day meeting and I'm going to demonstrate the magnolia flower. Which is no big deal but I need to have some things for a display and I've been working on that. I'm not ready to show any of these things yet but here's something that I will share with you. This is kind of like my convention swaps but not quite because this card has some of the retired Bridal paper on it. Anyway, look at the butterfly. I made this with sticky pages. They're like sticky strip only a whole page. Both sides are sticky and glitter sticks just great. I cut the butterfly out using the bigz die Beautiful Butterflies. It's the smallest butterfly on the die. I cut my sticky page into pieces just the right size for the butterfly and I put a piece of regular paper over the pink side of the sticky page piece and then just run it through the Big Shot. I only did one at a time so I can't tell if you could do more at once. I just peeled one side of backing off and put it on the black circle and then I peeled the other side of backing off and poured the glitter on. This is a great way to get a very precise glitter image. I can hardly wait to try some more things. I've got more sticky pages ordered and I hope they get here soon.

Oh, and if you've got any of the bridal paper then you know that it's a solid white. I just used a sponge to apply color. This is Pacific Point. I'm really going to miss this paper. I'll just have to use the Presto Pattern Paper now.
And it just occured to me that I haven't told you anything about the new catalog. It's great and I've already sent in two orders. I can hardly wait for them to get here. The Designer Series Paper in the new catalog is the best ever. There's so many pretty paper's that I had a hard time deciding which to order first. And the punches all come in the new style now and they have a storage box just for the punches. They also have a storage box for the clear blocks. Now you don't have to worry about them getting scratched. And probably my favorite thing is that now they sell self adhesive half pearls and rhinestones on a sheet. You get 150 on a sheet. And today I got a sneek peek at the Holiday mini and it's fantastic. There's some new product in there that I just love. You'll have to wait to see it.
So if you ordered a new catalog it's here now. If you didn't order a new catalog just let me know. I've have lots. I'll try and get with everyone this week so they can get their catalogs. Now I need to go and take a cold shower. Don't you just love this Michigan weather?
