Spring Fling make n takes

Yesterday was our Spring Fling event with the Rubber Queens. Here are the make and takes that we did. These are all using the Island Oasis designer series paper, the Island Floral Bigz Die and the Island Oasis party favor boxes.
This is a box with notes cards. The box front and back are made of chip board. The little note cards fit right inside the box. The Island Oasis paper is so bright and cherry that it made the rainy day seem a lot better.

This is one of the little party favor boxes. Wouldn't you love to go to a party or event and find this little box filled with goodies just for you?

This is decorated stationary. We started with a full sheet of card stock. Then folded it in thirds and decorated the inside and the outside. Of course you'll notice that the first picture is the inside of the folded page and below is the outside of the page. Think how happy someone would be to receive a letter written on such cute paper.

Now comes a card made with the Bigz Die and a little purse that has a cello bag in it to hold candy or some other small gift item. You probably noticed that we used a lot of Old Olive satin ribbon. This ribbon is so beautiful and easy to use. And we also used some of the filigree brads.

And the little purse used the new Square Lattice embossing folder. This gives the paper a beautiful texture. It almost looks like cloth.
Now I have to get busy for card class this week.

Here's a shower invitation that my niece, Beth Anne, made for her cousins wedding shower. It's pretty simple with just Whisper White and Blush Blossom. I like the monogram. I don't know how much it shows up but she used two different embossing folders, Finial Press and Perfect Polka Dots. But she used them backwards. The embossing is going towards the inside instead of being raised up. I don't know if that was on purpose or just a mistake. The dark spot on the right hand side is a punch that I used to hold the invitation shut so I could take the picture. This card opens in the middle and on the inside she had two different pieces of Blush Blossom. She said that the bottom one might turn into a pocket. She isn't sure yet.

Here are some pictures from my rag quilt purse class that I did last night. There were five of us there and we had a great time. This first picture is of the purse that I made last night. I had my mind all made up that I wanted pink cabbage roses but when I got to the quilt shop I saw this material and I had to have it. This pink and black beauty belongs to my sister-in-law, Deb. It's a real girly girl bag.
This is Michelles bag. She didn't cut out her squares on the Big Shot so it looks a little different. She also only used one pattern of material.
Here's Connie with the one that she made for her son's lady friend. But she said that she was going to take it to work today and show it off and if anyone offers to buy it, IT'S SOLD.

And this is the last one. Alice made her's with three different black patterns but she lined it with white. Someone told her that they thought that a white interior would make it easier to find things.

All in all I thought the class went great and I loved all the purses. If you ever want to do one of these just let me know and I'll set up another class.
And if any of you live anywhere near Ovid please go and check out the quilt shop there. It's really nice and that's where Deb and I got our material.

Yesterday was our regular carft day. We used to call this scrapbooking day and then it was card making day but now it's just craft day. Anyway, look at this dragon that Penny made. She didn't make it all yesterday but it's finally done. Isn't this just the cutest thing. Here's his face. (I think it's a boy?). Doesn't he have a lot of personallity?
And I did make some cards. Actually this one was about half made at our Rubber Queens gathering last Tues. We made the cute tea bag holder and then when I got my new stamps on Thurs there was this one about how a woman is like a tea bag and I just had to put a card together with it.

And here's a graduation card using the new graduation stamp set (don't know what it's called. I never seem to have my catalog near when I'm blogging). But it's using two of my favorite colors that are retiring. Summer Sun and Brilliant Blue. You'd better believe that I'll be stocking up on these two colors because they are both Ashley and Ovid-Elsie's school colors.

Here are the new colors and the new color groups. They aren't called color families anymore. The brand new colors are Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze and Early Expresso. The returning In-Colors are Baja Breeze, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry, Riding Hood Red, River Rock, Soft Suede, Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi. And there's one more with a new name. Kraft will be called Crumb Cake now. I know that this is not the best way to see new colors but I will be getting a paper sampler if you want to see them in real life. And there will be some new in-colors but I don't know what they'll be. We're all just going to have to wait and see.

Man, there's so much going on right now I don't know where to start. So the first thing I want to do is remind you that I'm having a Rag Quilt purse class next Tues., April 13th. It's only $5.00 but you do have to have your own sewing machine and furnish everything that you'll need. Just let me know if you want to come and I'll send you the materials list.

And now to celebrate finally getting my taxes done I've decided to offer a tax time deal to you. From now until April 15th order anything to do with the Big Shot and get 15% off. You will have to pay the regular price for shipping and handling and tax. I have no control over those items. Just call me or send me an email.

And last but definately not least is the news from Stampin Up! that they are retiring a bunch of colors and will be introducing new colors in July. The retiring colors are glorious green, green galore, gable green, yoyo yellow, only orange, pink passion, pixie pink, orchid opulence, lovely lilac, brilliant blue, close to cocoa, creamy caramel, really rust, ruby red, cameo coral, summer sun, bordering blue, brocade blue, ballet blue, taken with teal, handsome hunter, pale plum, blush blossom, apricot appeal, barely banana, mellow moss, sage shadow, almost amethyst, lavender lace, basic brown and going gray. I'm really going to miss some of these colors. But we do have time to stock up on these colors before they're gone. And remember that this includes paper, ink pads, reinkers, markers, crayons, stampin pastels, ribbon and buttons. So take inventory and see what you need before it's all gone.
I guess that's enough for today. Tomorrow I'll tell you about the new colors.

I've been really bad about updating this blog. And I have no excuse. So here's my last Easter card. You probably noticed that there was only one other.
Do you recognize the shape of the carrot? It's the plastic that comes on the snail adhesive refill. I didn't think this up by myself. I mean, who looks at a snail refill and thinks of carrots? It wasn't me and I don't remember where I copied this from. But I think that it makes a really cute treat holder. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter. It's raining here right now but since we need the rain it's okay. At least it's warm.
