Faux metal???

This is a card that we did on Monday at Tools and Techniques.  I call it Faux Metal but there's probably another name for it.  It's pretty simple.  Just use a glue stick and cover a piece of card stock.  Then lay the aluminum foil down on the card stock and smooth it out.  Then we cut the top note and embossed it with the Northern Flurry folder.  I've done a few cards this way and I really like the effect.  It would be cool if I had ever bought a tool stamp set.  I think the chevron embossing folder would be perfect with a tool stamp.  And I don't know if you can tell, but I colored a large pearl with the silver metalic marker but it didn't look silver.  Just kind of gray.

We made this cute card on Thurs at card class.  It's using the Jolly Bingo Bits stamp set and I love this set.  I could have used any of a number of stamps out of the set to make this card.  And maybe i'll make a couple of other cards usin some of the other stamps in that set.

    Calendar Class

This Thursday, Oct 18th is my calendar class.  Here are the two calendars that we will be making.
This one has 4 inserts, 3 months on each.  They fit into this nice plastic case.  They'll make great teacher gifts, co-workers gifts or stocking stuffers.  I plan on make quite a few for gifts.

This one is an easel card but it's bigger than the one that we did last year.  This one is 6 x 6 and you get to be creative with it.  I don't have enough of this DSP to do very many so you'll get to pick the DSP that you want to use and the card stock to go with it.  And then of course you'll have to cut the paper yourself.  It shouldn't take very long.  And if you want to mail it you can but it will take more postage.  Let me know if you want to come to class.

    Christmas train

Here's a little train that I made for Ronda's Creative Convention in Sept.  My theme was Christmas Gifts and while the train isn't sturdy enough to play with it did have a lot of candy in it for the dispaly.  I don't have any dimensions for it.  I just kept playing with it and when something looked right I moved on to the next piece but maybe you can get some ideas from the pictures and the few hints that I have.
This engine is made with a flat box for the base, toilet paper tube for the boiler, a box for the cab, peppermint sticks for the roof supports and some of the wood grain DSP for the roof.  The wheels are from the Jolly Bingo Bits.  I did make them several layers thick so that they're studier.   I also cut cardboard and filled the flat box that is the base.  I always save all my cardboard and this worked great to make the base study.   It really should have had a cow catcher and a bell but I ran out of time.

Here's a close up of the wheels.  I got the idea for the snowflakes and the peppermint candy from a train that I saw at Bronners.

Here's the coal car.  Just an open box for the car and I filled it with black jelly beans.

An open box car that I filled with Hershey Nuggets.  This car is a little taller than the coal car.

And a gondola car that I filled with the long Tootise Rolls it looked like a log car.  The tress are also several layers thick.   So while it really can't be played with much it would make a cute gift for a little boy.  Or even a big boy.

Here's a fall wreath that I made today.  Sandi Dailey showed us how to make the leaves at our last demo meeting.  And it recycles the paper that we get in the boxes from Stampin' Up!  It's really thin brown paper but it worked great for the leaves.
Here's a close up of the leaves.  I cut them out on the Big Shot.  Then I inked the edges using a dauber and sponged the middle.  On most of them I used Cajun Craze on the edges and More Mustard on the middle.  Then I took the leaved and wadded them up as much as possible.  Then I straightened them out and laye them on a Chocolate Chip ink pad.  Then I used a clear block to press them onto the ink pad.  Some I just barely pressed and some I pressed really hard.  You can see the difference in this close up.  So now you can go and make a ton of fake fall leaves.  If you need some of the packing paper just let me know.  I have a lot of it.

Here's the cards that we did at card class last week.  We also did the mummy card that I already showed.  This first card used the new Core'dinations card stock out of the Holiday catalog.  I didn't sand it very much but the core shows through pretty good.  I also ran the two biggest leaves through an embossing folder just to give them some dimension.

This sympathy card I cased from one that I got in a swap.  I like the simplicity of it.

    A quick, cute baby card.

On this card I used the stamp set called First Christmas.  The blue is Midnight Muse and we discovered that when it's left open all day it definately needs to be re-inked.  The ladies were not getting as dark an image as I had on this card.  So be sure to get the re-inkers if your going to be using the new pads a lot.
This next card is a square 5 x 5 card so we also made the envelope to go with it.

This set is one that I got at convention but I never used it again.  Then I got the Howlstooth and & Scaringbone DSP and they just seemed to go together.  The Howlstooth DSP is for Halloween but since there's no actual Halloween desing on any of it you can use it for masculine cards at any time.

And our 3-d item is this cute treat holder for Christmas.

Here's a couple more Halloween cards.  Are you getting tired of them yet?  Tomorrow, or maybe Friday, I'll post the cards that we did at card class last week.
Everybody loves Angry Birds, don't they?

And what would Halloween be without a mummy.
