Mini magazine holder

Here is the 3-D item that we made in card class last week and I also showed one at the Sale-A-Bration event on Sautrday.   You'll need two sheets of card stock for this.  I used the Patterns Designer Series Paper and solid color card stock that match.  The DSP is not really sturdy enough so I used card stock and then layered the DSP on it. For the top of the box you'll need a sheet that is 5 3/4" X 10 1/2".  Then score it 4 1/2" from each end.  Now measure up 2 1/2" on each side and make a mark.  Then measure 1" outside of each score line and make a mark.  Now trim between the marks on each side.  It should look like this example.
For the bottom of the box you'll need a sheet of card stock that is 9 1/2" X 6 1/2".  Then score 2 1/2" from each edge.  On the long sides cut on the score line up to the next score line.  I don't know if this makes any sense but it should look like this.  BUT don't cut on the dotted line like it says in the picture.  Cut on the solid line.  The dotted lines are the score lines.
Then when you put the two pieces together it will look like this.  A mini magazine holder that is just the right size to hold cards and envelopes.  I think you can get between six and eight cards in the holder.  Think what a cute gift this would make.
The blue one on the right is the one that I showed on Sat.  The bottom is made of the new Springtime Fling fabric.  And that's a piece of material tied around it instead of ribbon.
I hope this is as clear as mud.  I've already taken a nap right here at the computer so I guess it's time to go to bed.  More about the Sale-A-Bration event tomorrow.

Card class samples

Here are the cards from last Thurs card class.  I think you've seen this one before but I added another layer to it and put the button on for the center of the flower.  Do you like that little button?  You can only get it out of the Sale-A-Bration mini.  Let me know if you want some and I'll help you get them.  This card uses the new Build A Blossom stamp set and the Blossom Petals Punch.  They're both in the Occasions mini.

And this card uses the new Build A Cupcake Punch.  There's a stamp set called Create A Cupcake that goes with the punch but I didn't use it here.  Again, both in the Occasions mini.

This beautiful card I got in a swap at Leadership and I don't have the card in front of me so I can't tell you who created it but I thank them.  This is a stamp set out of Sale-A-Bration called Bliss.

And here's the cute little Greetin Cards Kids stamp set combined with some of the new Glimmer Paper.  This paper is so pretty and you don't have the mess of glitter all over.  I love it.  And it's in the Occasions mini.  Can you tell that I love the new mini catalog?

And this card I got from Sherry Nickolson.  It could be a valentine but it could also be a wedding or anniversary card since it doesn't say valentine anywhere on it.

And this cute and quick card is one that we made at one of the demo meetings.  It's so simple to put together but so cute.  And I just love the Elegant Soiree designer series paper.  The butterflies were cut out on the Big Shot using the embosslit called Beautiful Wings.

And this last card is using the stamp set called Thanks for Caring.  It's in the Occasions mini.

If you didn't get the mini's this month please let me know.  And I'll TRY to get them in the mail.  Val would tell you that it's not a promise.  I told her that I would send them and then totally forgot about her.  Sorry about that.  She did finally get them but she had to come to my class to get them.
Tomorrow I'll post the 3-D item that we did with instructions.
Thanks for looking.

Just a little more from Leadership

Here's a couple more Make & Takes from Leadership.  I don't like to feel rushed when I'm doing make & takes so I just did the minimum that I need to do while at Leadership and finished them at home.  Here's a beautiful broach that we made using some of the Springtime Vintage fabric, ribbon, DSP and one of the new beveled frames.  It doesn't show up very well but it's over the butterfly.

And here's one of the clear stamp cases decorated to be used for whatever we want.  A few cards would fit in here or a notebook or some of the embossing folders.  Or even a DVD.  Did you know that you can buy the clear cases out of the big catalog?  I've ordered some to put my embossing folders in and they are just the right size for storing the pearls and rhinestones.

Well I'm still sewing like crazy trying to get ready for Ronda's event tomorrow. So far I've only put the straps on my lap top case the wrong way and measured my tote for minis so that it's to narrow. Oh well, I've still got a little time. It doesn't pay to wait until the last minute.

More Leadership

When we go to Leadrship or Convention we always get a bag to carry our stuff around in.  Here's the bag that we got this year.  It's Early Espresso on Whisper White.  And that's wide grosgrain ribbon trim.  Then when we got to Momento Mall they had wallets that matched the purses so of course I had to have one.  And demo's who have a Service Account Manager also got a date book that matches.  Aren't they cool.  I already had a couple of people ask me if it's Vera Bradley.  But it's probably even more exclusive than Vera Bradley because there were only 1000 people at convention so there are only that many bags.  Of course there are probably a few more for the people who work for Stampin Up!.

Here's some of the stuff that I won from the Prize Patrol.  Glimmer paper, glimmer brads and glass glitter were in one bundle that everyone got.  The stamp set in the middle is Clearly Caring from the Occasions Mini which everyone got and used for the make & takes.  The stamp set on the right is ??? something.  It's out in the Paper Palace and I'm nice and warm where I'm at so you'll just have to guess at it.  It came along with the Baja Breeze fabric at the lower right.  The stamp set at upper left, the three peices of fabric and the buttons are from the Sew Suite line.  I've got some sewing to do now.

Here's a couple of items from Momento Mall.  The small package contains magnetic bookmarks in the current in colors.
Here's Sandy and Jackie after they got some free stuff.  Do we get excited?

Am I offensive?

When I update this blog I always upload it to Facebook.  For some reason tonight when I tried it I couldn't do it.  Because Facebook says there something offensive about it.  What's up with that?

Wonderful Make & Takes.

Here's some of the make & takes that we did at Leadership.  We each got one of the big Simply Adorned Charms and the 34" chain.  We made three inserts to go in the charm and we got ribbon to use instead of a chain.  These are so beautiful.
This first one has a black satin ribbon to use instead of a chain.
And here's a close up of the insert.  With a glitter heart and a key trinket.
Here it is with my hand so that you can see the size.  The charm is 1 1/2" X 2".  They're really big.
This second one uses some of the lace ribbon and some satin ribbon pieces just tied onto the lace.
And here's the close up of the insert.
 Here's the last insert.
And here we really got wild with the chain.  Thats Marina Mist satin ribbon that's wove through the chain.  And there's some satin ribbon, some lace ribbon and some strips of material tied onto the chain.  And can you see that there's a key trinket, a crown and a pearl on the chain also.
I can't believe that they gave each of us a charm.  And I love the inserts.  Sometimes I can't think of what to do with an insert but these give me lots of ideas.
We did a couple more make & takes which I'll show you when I get them done.  I didn't do them at Leadership because there's never enough time and I tend to make mistakes.  So I waited until I got home.  And then discovered that I need some spray starch for one of the projects.
So hopefully I'll show them to you tomorrow along with some of the things that got from Stampin Up!

Home at Last

We finally got home about 6:30 tonight.  We took our time coming home and did some shopping on the way.  We left the Opryland hotel about noon on Sat. and met my cousin and her family at the Cracker Barrel for lunch.  Finally got on the road about the middle of the afternoon.  Side tracked to a scrapbook store in Kentucky and spent the night somewhere just North of Louisville.  Then yesterday we went to Nashville, Indiana.  It's a shopper's paradise but there wasn't much open because it's winter and it was Sunday.  Made it as far as Ft. Wayne last night and this morning we shopped at Hobby Lobby and Joann's before we headed for Michigan.
Here's some more picture of the Opryland Hotel.  If you ever get the chance to go there it's wonderful.  This first picture is of the glass ceiling in the Delta section of the hotel.

I had a little time Friday when I didn't have any classes so Laurel and I went for a boat ride.  It's 1/4 mile long and it's beautiful.  These next few pictures were taken when we were on the boat.

There's about 4 acres of gardens in the hotel and there are lots of statues and water falls and so many beautiful flowers.
This is the outside of the steak house that is right inside the hotel.

And here's one of the many plants that we saw.  I have no idea what it is.

Tomorrow I'll start posting pictures of some of the things that I got from Stampin Up! and some of the swaps.  And the FABULOUS make and takes that we did.  Let me just hint that it involves jewelry.

Last night of leadership

Tonight was the last night of Leadership and what a night it was.  Stampin Up! is always full of surprizes and tonight was no exception.  They announced that every leadership attendee can give away one free starter kit.  Oh boy, is there anyone who's wanted to be a demonstrator but just wasn't sure about spending the money?  Let me know and maybe you'll get the free kit.  What a deal!
Stampin Up! really knows how to treat their people.  We got so much free stuff it was amazing.  I won't post any more pictures until I get home but I wanted to let you all know about this wonderful deal.
I'll post lots of pictures of all the free stuff that I got from Stampin Up! and this beautiful place.  Next year Leadership will be in San Antonio, Texas.  I can hardly wait.

More conference

Today was a very busy day.  And a very long day.  I'm ready for bed but thought that I would show you a couple more pictures of Opryland Hotel.  This first one was taken in the Delta Lobby.  It's all glass.

It's amazing to think that the hotel was flooded last year and the whole first floor is brand new.
This next picture is the Delta Island in the hotel.  There's girft shops and food places on the island.

The weather has been cold.  But the people here think it's more than cold because they aren't used to this cold weather.  Tonight it's going to be a low of 12 degrees.  I guess that really is pretty cold.  Well, I'm giving up and going to bed.

Gaylord Opryland Hotel

We finally made it to Nashville after getting a late start last night and snowy roads in Michigan.  Traveled between 45 and 50 mph.  Got to Angola, Indiana about 9:30 but I was ready to stop for the day.  Got going this morning about 8:30 and the roads were much better.  Just wet, but not slippery.  Saw the remains of two horrific accidents.  Both involved three semi's.  Finally got here about 5:30.  Checked into the hotel and got to our room.  Then decided to get something to eat and wander around.  Saw most of the hotel and it's gorgeous.  Here's a couple of pictures.  The first two are our room.  It's really nice.  Up on the fifth floor.  A long way from the lobby.  We walked forever.  But we did have a bell hop to handle our luggage.

The Christmas decorations are still up and they're beautiful.  It was already dark when I took these pictures but you can see some of the lights.  This picture is in the Delta section. That's the boat dock.  Right, I said boat dock.  You can take a trip around the inside of the hotel in a boat.
Here's the tree in the Delta section.  We wandered all over and I took a ton of pictures but this is it for tonight.  Got to get some sleep because we have a long day tomorrow.  I'll post more when I get a chance.

Occasions Mini

Here's a couple of cards using some of my new toys out of the Occasions Mini.  This first card is made using the new Bigz die called Fun Flowers.  There are three different layers of the flower and two circles for the center.  I put one of the new flower buttons from the Sale-A-Bration mini in the center.  I've seen some real pretty cards done with this flower but I was to impatient to really take my time and I was just cutting and grabbing card stock.  But with a little thought this could be much better.  I just couldn't wait.

This next card is using the new Build a Blossom stamp set and the new Blossom Petals Punch.  I stamped the design on Baja Breeze card stock using Marina Mist ink.  That's how you get the two different colors.  The center I stamped with Marina Mist ink on Whisper White card stock.

If you've got your mini I want you to open to page 12 and look at the Build a Blossom stamp set and tell me what different things you could do with this set.  One of the Stampin Up! demo's saw an evening gown.  I'll let you look at it for awhile and when Leadership is over I'll post a card with the evening gown.

Stylish Blogger Award

What a surprize.  Today I received the Stylish Blogger Award.  Not sure that I really qualify but I like it.  In order to accept this award I have to tell you eight things about myself that you might not know and then I have to pass the award to eight blogs that I like.  So here's eight things about me.
1.  I love to travel.  Not sure that's a surprize but I've been all over the Eastern part of the states and to nine countries in Europe.
2.  I love to sew.  Learned when I was a little girl using my Grandmother's old treadle machine.  Spent 8 years in 4-H and still going strong.  Have 6 quilts under my belt and about 6 more in the works.
3.  I've taken a lot of college classes but never graduated.  Couldn't make up my mind what to study.  Tried a teachers course, lots of programing classes and some photography.
4.  Now don't laugh.  Spent 40 years as a Sunday School teacher.
5.  Walt Disney World is my favorite vacation destination.  Made reservations on Jan 2 for a vacation in Nov.
6.  Love camping but I think I'm getting to old for all the hassle of setting up a camper so it's for sale.  Know anyone interested?
7.  Figure skating is my all time favorite sport.  Been watching it for years.
8.  Still have trouble with my right and left.  Have given lots of misinformation when giving directions.

Now for eight blogs that I like.

A New Year

Well, it's a new year and all the holiday hoopla is over.  Time to move on to something else.  It would be easier to do if I had all the Christmas decorations down.  Maybe today, maybe tomorrow.
Anyway it's time for a new mini catalog.  The Occasions mini is active now and there's some really great stuff in there.  If you didn't get one please let me know and I'll get one to you right away.  Here's a valentine's card that I made using one of the stamps out of the new mini.  This stamp is called Be My Valentine and it's only $8.95.  I had fun playing with this card thinking that I could use it for a swap at Leadership but I decided that it's to time consuming to do a lot of them.  So I moved on to something else.
I'm going to try and do better about posting things from the new mini.  I've got some new stamp sets, new punches, new buttons and some of the new material.
