A Couple More Card Class

Here's a couple more cards from Thurs card class.  This first one is called "Out West".  I like it for both adults and kids.  My color decision was influnced by the fact that I only had the wide ribbon in Old Olive.  The edge of the Vanilla card stock is colored by using the edge of the ink pad instead of a sponge or dauber.  It's a simple technique called "direct to paper".

The color for this card was decided by the designer series paper called Nursery Suite Specialty.  Aren't those cute little bunnies.

I hope your all excited about the Holiday mini.  It goes live on Wednesday and then you can order all of those must have items.  I haven't bought everything in the mini but I'm very close.  I love everything  in the mini and I think you will too.

Card Class

Here's a couple of cards from tonight's card class.  This first one is also the card that I did for the shoe box swap last Friday.
This card is made with the wonderful Greeting Card Kids stamp set.  I love this set so much that you'll probably get real tired of it before I do.
The card on the top is a straight copy of one of Tami Acherson's cards.  I love the feminine aspect of the card and the fact that it's so non traditional.  The card on the bottom is not a card.  We were up North and then it seemed like everything was so busy that I didn't have time to look for a three-d item so this is it.  It's a holder for a packet of drink mix that fits over the top of a water bottle.  Along with that there's a drink tag so that you can put your name on your bottle and no one else will take it. I saw this somewhere online but I don't remember where.

Shoe box swap.

Friday night Ronda had a Leadership night with a shoe box swap.  If you've never done a shoe box swap it's great fun and really easy because you don't have to make all the cards.  You just design a card and cut the paper and get all the supplies together and then everyone makes their own cards.  Here are some of the cards that I made Friday night.

I don't know who designed each card so I'm not going to put any names with them but they are all beautiful.  We have a lot of very talented ladies in our group.

This green one with the leaves is an example of what not to do.  I was talking and not paying attention so it's not the color originally intended.  But there's no right or wrong way to make a card.  Only variations.  This is my version.

We were actually suspose to make 10 cards but between talking and goofing off I only got these done.  But the rest were beautiful.    Later I'll post some pictures of the New Catalog Kickoff on Saturday.  And again you'll see how I don't always pay attention.

Beautiful Michigan

Today we went to Whitefish Point.  The wind was very strong.  There were four freighters anchored in the bay to the South of the point and we assume that it was because the winds were so strong that they couldn't get through the locks at the Soo.  We were there yesterday and they were having trouble because the wind was really bad.  We walked on the beach and the wind felt like our legs were being sanded.  We picked up some rocks and then decided to leave the rest of them for other people and get out of the wind.

After we left Whitefish Point we head to Tahquanamon Falls.  We knew that we didn't want to try the boat over to the lower falls so we went right past them and went to the upper falls.  It was a little rainy but it cleared up enough so that we didn't get wet and I got some beautiful pictures.  This one was taken from an observation point along the river.  There are stairs down to the top of the falls but I didn't think my knee would make it back up so we didn't go down.  But if you ever get the chance you should do it.  There are so many beautiful places to see in Michigan that it would take a life time to see them all but the falls are way up there toward the top of the list.
But tomorrow it's back to reality.  We're heading for home.

It's Michigan

It's wonderful up here in Northern Michigan.  At least it is today.  Yesterday it was so hot and humid that the sweat dripped all day.  Tonight it's cool enough for a jacket and long pants.  It feels wonderful.  The wedding was beautiful but hot.  Right on the lake shore with the reception in a big tent.  My sister and I stayed until about 8:00 and then brought three babies back to the motel with us.  They all slept until about 7:00 this morning.  Finally got them all reuntied with their parents about noon today.  Then out to lunch with a group of people, a little time at the casino, a nap, then supper with the same group and then one last trip to the casino.  Tomorrw we're heading for the Soo.

Yea for air conditioning!!!!!!!

Today the guys came and installed an air conditioner in my stamp studio.  And it's wonderful.  So if you've ever come to any of my stamp events then you know how hot and humid it could get.  Now the weather will probably get cool and dry.  But that's okay.  Now I'm prepared for anything.

A couple more Christmas cards

Here's a couple more Christmas cards for you.  And I know that the one on the top is fuzzy but guys are working in the studio putting in the air conditioner so I can't go out there and scrounge for the card to take another picture.  But believe me it is a beautiful card made by Sandi Dailey.  She used the Peaceful Season stamp set that you can only get by having a workshop.  She stamped on Designer Series Paper and that's what makes it look so vintage.  The card on the bottom was made by Kristen Kent using the Serene Snowflakes stamp set and a hostess set called Occasional Quotes is the greeting.  I love both of these cards and I'll be copying them for myself.
I won't be posting cards for a few days because we're leaving in the morning for the U.P.  A week away from stamping will be hard but someone has to do it.  I'll try and post a few pictures of the scenery.

I'm back with a new monitor

Okay, in my last post I said that I would be posting some more Christmas cards.  Well, then my monitor died and I just got a different one yesterday.  So here is a Christmas card from our Rubber Queens swap last week.  Dianne Emery made this card and it uses the new stamp set called Paisley Prints.  There are five stamps in the set and they cover three holidays.  This is the Christmas stamp.  And there's a couple for Thanksgiving or fall and two that are hearts for Valentines Day.  I'm not sure if this is a lousy picture or if it's just my monitor but it doesn't show the sparkle real well.  There's a layer of gold paper on top of the red and the green top note piece has been spritzed with Shimmer paint.  And the tree and the Merry Christmas are embossed in gold.  I hope this looks okay to you.  I guess I need to fire up my net book and check it out.  I think this new monitor is kind of flaky.  It just looks to bright to me.  Or maybe it's just that my old eyes are having a hard time adjusting.  What ever.  I'll post some more tomorrow.

Rubber Queens Meeting

Last night was our regular Rubber Queens meeting and the theme for the swap was Christmas.  There were some great cards there and I'll post some of them tomorrow.  Right now I want to show you the card that I made.  The stamp set that I used is Greeting Card kids.  This set is beautiful and there are four stamps in the set and three of them are Holiday stamps.
These kids remind me of the Campbells Soup kids.  I used my blender pen to color the image because I didn't want the color to be to intense.  And the beautiful background paper is from the Deck The Halls designer series paper that is in the Holiday Mini.  I can hardly wait for you to get the mini because there's so much stuff in there that I just love.  I got this paper free at convention.  Stampin Up! treats their demo's great.  The stamp image is on Very Vanilla and the scallop circle behind it is Crumb Cake that I spritzed with the Shimmer Paint. The greeting is from Grateful Greetings and is embossed in gold.  I just love the vintage look of this card.  Even if I did make it myself.
