More card class

Here's a couple more cards from last weeks card class.  These are all stamp sets that are retiring tomorrow.  This is your last chance to get them before they're gone.
This first one is a stamp set called Happy Together and I have to admit that while I think it's really cute this is the first time that I've used it.

This next card is a copy of one that Sherry Nicholson swaped at our last Rubber Queens meeting.  It's the baby wipe technique and I hadn't done that one in a long time.

And here's an oldie but a goodie.  The envelope that is transformed into a gift holder.  You just take a business size envelope and decorate it.  Then cut it into two pieces and crimp the bottom half.  Now the bottom half will slide easily into the top half.  Fill it with candy bars, a handerkerchief or packet of hot cocoa or something of similar size and you've got an instant gift.

Here it is with the two halves separated so you can see how I cut mine.  It doesn't have to be a curve.  I just like it this way.

I can't believe that in two weeks from yesterday I'll be in Salt Lake swapping cards like crazy.  I can hardly wait to see what kind of wonderful things I'll learn out there.  And see all the thousands of samples.  And maybe there'll be some new stuff debuted at convention.  You just never know what's going to happen.

Card Class

Here's a few cards from last weeks card class.  I've been really busy with graduation open houses but today is the last three open houses so then I can really concentrate on swap cards for convention.  That's coming up way to fast.  But I have finally settled on three designs for swaps so now I just need to get busy.  But there's not much going on this week.  Right.  Tomorrow night I'm going to church because I didn't get up in time this morning.  Tues I'm going to Home Depot with Todd to get some supplies that he needs to do some work on the house.  I need to go to the eye doctor to get my glasses adjusted.  I need an appointment with my regular doctor so I can get my prescriptions renewed.  And I need to go to Fashion Bug to return some capris that I didn't bother to try on.  But there's not much going on

When you look at these cards please remember that all of these stamp sets are retiring and you only have until Thursday to order any retiring items that you might want.

Another reject.

Here's another card that I rejected for a swap at convention.  It just doesn't float my boat.  I'm not sure why.  Maybe it needs some more color.  I'm just not sure.  What do you think?  The little girls sparkles because I punched a hole in the top note piece and then used packing tape and dazzling diamonds.  The punch is a new one out of the new catalog.  So I guess this is a little sneek peek.

More swaps

So yesterday I'm complaining about coming up with good ideas for swaps and last night I signed up for another swap.  But since it's with Ronda and the Rubber Queens I really want to do it.  As Ronda always says, we get some of our best swaps from the Rubber Queens.  Besides that it's always lots of fun.  So if you've got any good ideas for swaps please send them to me.  I'll even give you the credit.

Convention swaps

I love going to convention.  All the people, give aways,  new products, classes, entertainment, making friends and of course swaps.  Swaps are probably my least favorite part of convention.  Not that I don't love swaps, imagine getting lots of new examples to show customers.  The part that I don't like is coming up with a good swap.  There are a few rules.  Like everything has to be current so we have to wait until we see the retired list.  And most important is has to be our best work.  So here is my first try.
Way to much work.  I like it and I might make some more for my own personal use but can you imagine embossing each piece?  Not gonna happen.
Here's the greeting on the bottom.  It shows up much better in real life.  Now it's off to the salt mine to see what else I can think of.

Last Chance and Sneak Peek

Here's a couple of stamp sets that are retiring and one sneak peek at a new stamp set.  This first one is "Just Buzzin' By"  It's such a cute stamp set and just right for little kids cards.  I'm sorry to see this one go.

This next one is one of my all time favorites.  It's "Beware Pirates"  How can they get rid of Captain Sparrow?  I'll not be putting this one on the sale table.  It's going to hang around for a long time doing birthday cards for all the pirate wanna be's that I know.  Like my cousin Keith, who wants a Pirate theme for their 25th wedding anniversary.

And here's a sneak peek at a stamp set out of the new catalog.  I'm not going to tell you anything about it except that it shows a new stamp set, new in color, new punch and some new designer series paper.

Retiring accessories

Have you had a chance to look at the list of retiring accessories?  If you have then your probably wondering why the 12 X 12 card stock is on the list.  It's NOT retiring.  It's being reconfigured.  Now when you buy a pack of 12 X 12 card stock it will all be smooth.  If you want textured card stock it comes in an assorted pack.  And how about the ribbons?  The new catalog now has ribbon in almost every color, which I love.  There's only a couple of colors that don't have ribbon to match.  And have you noticed that some of the items are discounted?  Be sure to check out the prices and see what's being offered at a discount.
I just got my new catalog yesterday and I still haven't had time to sit down and really look it over but there's some really cool new sets.  I'm going to start a list and see what size bank loan I'll need.  And you can see the new catalog soon.  Just let me know if you want one and I'll get them ordered for you.
Now I'm off to study the catalog.  I'll let you know what I find.

Fun with shaving cream

Okay, here's the pictures that I promised and I'm only a couple of days late.  This first one is Whisper White card stock and Tempting Turquoise ink.  Very pretty, isn't it?
Now add a little Rich Razzleberry ink and this is what you get.  Sorry that the picture is fuzzy but you get the idea.
Now make a card out of it.  I've got a drawer full of pieces waiting to be made into cards.  The only problem is that sometimes the colors retire and then I can't use them for class.
Here's some Bashful Blue on Whisper White card stock.  You can tell that this is an old sample because that's Sage Shadow ribbon on it.  I really miss that color.
And then you can get really crazy with your colors.  Again, these are old colors and that's YoYo Yellow.
And add a little more color.  Don't know what to do with this backgroun.  Maybe something under the sea?
And here's some brown ink on So Saffron card stock.  You just never know what you'll get.
So go and get some really cheap shaving cream and have fun.  Just be warned that it does get everywhere so be sure to protect the surface that your working on.
