About Me

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

I haven't been doing any stamping except for my convention swaps but here is a couple of cards from last card class that I never posted. These are not my invention. I copied them from someone. I need to pay more attention where I get these so that I can give people credit for them.
Today is the last day that you can order from the old Stampin Up! catalog so starting tomorrow I hope to have lots of stuff to show you from the new catalog. If you want a catalog just let me know. I have a pile of them just waiting for new owners. Tomorrow night is my "retirement party" where I hope to sell lots of my old stuff so that I can send in a big order for new stuff. Everyone needs lots of stuff. I don't know where I would be without stuff. But my house would probably be a lot cleaner. Oh well, someone will have a good time when they have to clean out this place after I'm gone.

A package consists of 12 x 12 paper, 8 1/2 x 11 paper, paper scraps, ink pad, ink refill, marker, chalk, crayon and some have ribbon with them.
There will also be some retired Designer Series Paper for $.05 a sheet.

More card class

Today I took my two new catalogs, English and Spanish, to Office Max and had them spiral bound into one book and it only cost me $3.49. A spiral bound book is so much easier to look at. So if you want yours done take it to Office Max.

Here's a couple more cards that we'll be doing on Thurs. Just let me know if your coming.

Card Class

The time is really flying this summer. It's almost the end of June and you know what that means. Old items and colors are retiring and new things are waiting in the wings to debut on July 1st. A lot of the retiring items are already out of stock so if there is something that you really want you'll need to get it right away (or try to get it). And the new catalogs are on the way. They should be here early next week. If you want a new catalog please let me know.

Card class is this coming Thursday night so I decided to show you a couple of cards that we'll be doing. I copied both of these cards so if they're yours I'm sorry that I don't have your name. This first one is using the new in color, Blushing Bride and an old color, Certainly Celery.
This one is using an old color, Pumpkin Pie. And both of these cards are using the Top Note Bigz die. It seems like I get stuck in a rut and use the same things on several cards. I've got at least one more that uses the Top Note die. I'll try and post a couple more tomorrow.

If you want to come to card class please let me know by Weds. morning so that I can get everything ready. Thanks.

New Stampin Up Catalog

I finally got my new catalog today. We were suspose to get a catalog with our first order in June. Well, I got my first order last Thur. but there was no catalog. So I called Stampin Up! and they said that they would get it in the mail right away. I've been haunting my mail box and today was the lucky day. So I've been looking and drooling and marking pages. And so far I've only marked about 12 must have stamp sets and a few accessories. I can hardly wait to show you the new catalog. If you can't wait then just come and visit me sometime. Or you can come to card class next week and see it. Or you can come to my retirement party on July 1st. If you've already pre-ordered a catalog it will be here by the retirement party. I just know that your going to love it. Now I've got to get busy and start using some of my new stamp sets and colors. Come to card class next week and see some of the new things.

More card class

I just love reading other people's blogs. My favorite, of course, are the ones by Stampin Up! demonstrators. And now that Stampin Up! has spread around the world there are people in other countries blogging about stamping. This morning I was on a blog and she was talking about items to make for craft shows. The first one she showed was a face washer lollipop. And yes, that is what she called it. She said to take a face washer, roll it up like a sausage and stick an icy pole stick in it so that it looked like a lollipop. It was actually a wash cloth and a popsickle stick. So then I looked to see where she was from and it turns out she is in Australia. So if you ever get to Australia and someone offers you an icy pole go ahead and take it because it's a popsickle. I know when I was in England they call it an ice lolly.
Anyway here's the last of the cards from card class.

And here's a beautiful magnolia blossom on top of a box. I'm going to demo this at our next Rubber Queens meeting and then I'll post the directions online. I got the instructions from someone else and I'll try and find her name so that she gets credit for this wonderful flower.

Card Class

Here's a few cards from my last card class. This first one is copied from one that I received in a swap from Joanne Jeter. The pin wheel blades are the bird punch. How come I never see things like that when I look at a punch?
This stamp is from the Watercolor Trio set that is in the summer mini. The white layer right beneath the green is embossed in the Big Shot using the new Square Lattice embossing folder. The green layer is Sage Shadow which is retiring so if you really like this color you'll need to order it before the end of June.

Here's a great stamp for all the motorcycle lovers out there. It's just called motorcycle and it's a single stamp in the summer mini. It's only $8.95.

This card uses the Finial Press embossing folder on card stock weight vellum. Doesn't it look beautiful. The butterfly is stamped on vellum and embossed.

Now I need to get back to the banner that I'm making for the Rubber Queens to take to convention. I'm at the point where I'm cutting pieces out and it's really making my fingers sore so I keep taking a break to do something else. At this rate I'll probably get it done just in time for convention.

Retirement party

It's that time of year. Stampin Up! is bringing out new stamp sets and accessories and to make room they are retiring some of the currnet stamps and accessories. The biggest news is that there are many colors retiring. So I'm having a party to celebrate and to clean out a lot of my retiring stuff. Not everything is going. I just can't turn loose of Orchid Opulence and a few others. But a lot of it is going and here's the deal for you. I'm bundling up all the retired items for each color (except for those few that I'm keeping) and I'm having a sale. Everything that I have for each color will be in a big zip lock bag and you can buy it all for just $20.00 each. This will include 12 x 12 paper, 81/2 x 11 paper, all the paper scraps, ink pads, ink refills, ribbon, buttons, brads, chalks, watercolor crayons and anything else that I can find. Then for each bundle that you buy you get to pick a free stamp set. Be warned that some bundles won't have as much in them as some other bundles because it depends on how much I've used. And some of the stamp sets are older than this year. But there should be enough stamps sets to keep everyone happy. You can come on July 1st from 7:00pm until everyone is gone. This is to give all those people who work days a chance to get here.
And I should have the new catalogs by then. So if you want a new catalog just let me know (some of you already have) and I'll have it here for you. Plus you'll get to see all the new colors of cardstock and some of the new stamp sets. I should get my catalog this week and I'll see how much I can't live without before then.
Everyone is welcome so let your friends know.
See you then?

I'm surprised that my entry from last night makes any sense. I was so tired that I kept making mistakes and I'd look at it and think "what in the world does that mean? But it doesn't look to bad in the light of a new day.
Anyway, here's some beautiful cards for you. And no, I didn't make them. Laurie Gibson is one of the Rubber Queens and she showed these cards at our meeting Tues. night. Laurie is moving to California and we'll really miss her but I'll keep following her blog because everything she does is so wonderful.
She calls these shadow box cards and some day I'm going to make some. In the meantime if you want to check out some of her other work just go to her blog. It's http://www.lauriesrubberroom.blogspot.com/
You won't be disappointed.

Simply Adorned charm bracelet

It's been awhile since I posted but I'll try to do better. What I've got to show you tonight is not a card but you can get it from Stampin Up! It's the Simply Adorned charm bracelet with a few aded embellishments. Now, this was not my idea. I saw one posted online and I just copied. I can't remember the person who did one and I can't find the paper that I had it written on.
Anyway, here's the bracelet. Here's a close up. I used the filligree brads and things from the Pretties Kit.

You will need some jewelry findings to embellish your bracelet. This is what I used. Not sure what the long piece of wire is called but the rings are called jump rings. I threaded my embellishments onto the long piece of wire and then I used Crystal Effects to glue the embellishments onto the wire and cut the end of the wire. You can get the jewelery findings at any craft store.
