About Me

Wednesday, December 30, 2015

For Christmas I got a Cinch binding tool and I love it.  Thanks Neil and Annie.  Couldn't wait to use it so I braved the weather yesterday and went to Hobby Lobby to get some wires.

And here's my first project.  My weekly calendar that sits on my desk.  I made the covers out of chipboard and coved them inside and out.  It's real easy to use the machine and I'm looking forward to making lots more journals.  My family will probably get tired of journals.

And one of the great things about it is that I don't need to buy chipboard to use for the covers because I get lots of chipboard from Stampin' Up! and I always save it.  Now I know why I was saving it.

Wow!!  Here's the weekly deals for this week.  Stampin' Up! really knows how to help us get ready for Christmas.  I'll be buying lots of the glitter paper.  I love it for all seasons but especially for Christmas.  Let me know if there's anything you need or you can just go online and order it.  But remember that this deal only last until next Monday, Nov 30th.

Online Extravaganza is going on right now.  Check out the great sales.  Only until Nov. 30th.

Monday, November 9, 2015

I'm sorry that I've let this go so long.  I'm feeling totally overwhelmed.  It's less than two weeks until the North Pole Express comes to Ashley.  Is the shop ready? No.  Is the village ready?  No.  Am I ready?  No.  I need to be about three different people at the same time or find someone to help me.  I could use a house keeper.  They'd have to be a really hard worker.  I could use a secretary.  Someone to answer all the letters, write press releases and maintain some web pages.  And if there was someone who would just like to come and craft with me that would be wonderful.  Laurel went to a craft show last weekend and discovered that we have no wedding cards.  Need to do a little card making.  And then to top it all off Beth and I took a week to take Tiger to Disney World.  Now I don't regret that at all but it sure put us behind.  We had a wonderful time.  It's great to go with someone who hasn't been there before.  Well, they had been to the Magic Kingdom but it was at Christmas and they didn't get to see and do much.  This time we had the dining plan and fast passes so we did real good.  We ate like pigs, walked our feet off, spent money and had fun, fun, fun.
But now it's time to get down to the work.  I have one more class scheduled for this month.  Christmas tags.  We'll be doing the tags that are on page 5 of the Holiday catalog.  The class is Nov. 19th all day.  The cost will be $22.00 and you'll make 30 tags.  BUT you will have to respond by Nov 12, I know, this week, so that I can get everything ordered.
And here's a couple of cards for your enjoyment.

Christmas is coming.

It's about time I got busy and updated this blog.  I just seem to run out of steam about mid afternoon and then things don't get done.  Anyhow, here's a card that I did last night.  I love the gold and white card that we did at the last Stamp A Stack and wanted to see what it would look like in silver.  I have to admit that I like the gold better but this is really pretty.

And just to prove that I do have lots of samples that I could be posting here's a picture of my card display.  Yesterday I took down everything and put up just Christmas cards.  You're always welcome to come and look at cards.  There are a lot of beautiful ideas here and I'll try and do better about posting them.

Monday, October 19, 2015

My regular card class is this Thurs., Oct 22.  Here's a peek at what we'll be making.  The designer paper is all Christmas paper but we'll be using it for cards that are not Christmas.  Come and make 8 cards with envelopes for $15.00.  Or free with a $20.00 order.

And right now Stampin' Up! is making it easy to buy stamps with a 15% off sale.  All stamp sets except hostess sets and rotary stamps are on sale.  Be sure to check out the catalogs and see what you need.  Or, like me, what you want.  Need doesn't always come into the decision.

Christmas Cutie

At our monthly Rubber Queens meeting we always do a card swap and then vote for our favorite card.  This is the winner from last weeks swap.  Sandy Dailey did this cute card using a stamp set called Christmas Cuties.  You can check it out on page 19 of the Holiday catalog.  I don't have this stamp set but because of our card swap I get to see all of the different stamp sets in action.

Snowmen rule!!

These are the make and takes from our last demo meeting.  Snowmen are so cute and everyone loves these because you can enjoy them without going out in the cold.

This first one is a treat holder made with the fry box die.  I did a little remodel on mine after I took the picture.  I think the hat needed to be a little lower.

This one is a cute gift tag.  I'll be making more of these.  I notice that there should have been a jewel on the flower but it must have come off somewhere.  Or maybe I just forgot to put it on.

This is a really cute stocking stuffer.  Everyone needs a little poop for Christmas, right?

And this last one I changed up a little.  The one that we made at the meeting was only two boxes but I added the third one.  If you filled these boxes up with candy you'd be making someone very happy.

And of course we made a card.  After all, that's what we do.  So here's all of our snowmen.  They were easy to make and so very cute.

Yoda celebrates a birthday.

Tomorrow is Tiger's birthday but his party is today so I needed a card.  What card is good for an 8 year old who is Star Wars crazy?  I found a picture of this card online and thought that it would be perfect.  Took me awhile to figure out the robe but here it is.  The ears were the easiest part to do.  Bird wings.  Those wings have been used a lot more for other stuff than they have for birds.  Flames in a fire, Santa's mustache, tulips and more.

Holiday treat holders.

At my card class last week I gave everyone a Halloween treat.  These treat holders are really simple to make and can be made for any occasions just by switching out the paper.  I was going to be real ambitious and type out the instructions but it didn't happen so I decided to post them here.

So you start with a piece of paper that 6" by 41/2"  I like the dimensions because you can cut your 12 x 12 paper up or use one of the new paper stacks that are 6 x 6.

Score the paper at 1", 2", 3" and 4".  You'll have 1/2" left to adhere and make a square container.

Then I cut the notches all the way around on both ends using my envelope punch board.  I notched the paper at 1 1/2" from each end.

Then you just fold the ends in like this.  Tie it with ribbon or twine and it's ready to go.  Of course you have to put some extra décor on it so I just used one of the little bottles out of the Sweet Hauntings stamp set.  This size of container holds a mini candy bar or the fat tootsie rolls.  If you have something longer or wider that you want to put in the holder just adjust the size of your paper.  Remember that the sides need to be the same width.  Kind of a variation on the 2, 4, 6, 8 box.

Here's last month's Paper Pumpkin offering.  There were three boxes and six cards with envelopes in the kit.  Very beautiful in real life. And so very easy to put together.  You'll just need some adhesive to make everything in the box.

It's kind of hard to tell in the picture but there's gold on both the boxes and the cards.

More "All Ye Faithful"

Here's three more cards done with the stamp set "All Ye Faithful"  I did the first one but the last two were done by other stampers and I got them in a swap.  I just love this set.  I'll be making some tags with this set too.

O Come All Ye Faithful

This stamp set is probably my favorite set out of the new Holiday catalog.  It's called "All Ye Faithful" and it comes in either wood mount or clear mount.  Let me know if you want it or you can click the "shop now" button and order it yourself.  The wood mount item # is 139898 and the clear mount item # is 139901.  There are four stamps in the set, the images that you see here and one phrase that says "O, come all ye faithful"  I think it's the perfect Christmas stamp.  I'll post some more pictures tomorrow.

Monday, September 7, 2015

My next class is on Sept 17th and we'll be making the "Tin of Cards" project kit.  It includes 16 cards and envelopes and a cute tin with dividers to put the cards in.  Keeps your cards organized and handy or the Tin of Cards makes a great gift for someone.  This class must be registered for by Sept. 14th.  The cost is only $30.00, or if you want the stamp set too then the price is $47.00.  Let me know if you want to take this class.

Would you like to make this witches hat?  Let me know and I'll get the kit for you.  If enough people want it I'll do a class where we can all make it together.

Christmas cards

Here's three more Christmas cards that we did on Thurs.  I love the new designer series paper in the holiday catalog.  It's so very vintage.  1940's and 1950's style.  Reminds me of Christmas when I was a kid.  This first card used the Home for Christmas paper.  Love the little reindeer.

This next card is using a stamp set out of the big catalog called Every Blessing.  It's really simple but the gold velum really sets it off.

This last card uses a set that was introduced last year called Festival of Trees and the plaid tree is out of a new set called Lots of Joy.  Both trees are the same size and the tree punch cuts them out.  The snow flake is from the stamp set for the Perpetual Calendar kit.

Here's one of the cards that we'll be doing on Thurs at Christmas Stamp A Stack.  Check out my blog to see another.  And if I don't get sidetracked I'll post a couple more over the next few days.
Yes, it's time to be thinking about Christmas.  Need a head start to get everything done so come and get started on your Christmas cards.  The class is Thurs all day long at the Paper Palace.  We'll be making 20 cards with envelopes.  There's be five different cards and you'll make four of each one.  The class is only $25.00.  Or free with a minimum order of $40.00.  Just be sure to let me know that you're coming so that I can get everything ready.

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Played this morning with some of my new stuff.  This first picture isn't the best but it's the new glitter ribbon out of the Holiday catalog.  It comes white but you can color it by turning it over and using markers on the back of the ribbon.  These colors are black, rose, turquoise and daffodil delight.  I love this ribbon and I think you will too.

Here is one of the new ornament framelit's on gold foil paper. I love these too and plan on making a lot of ornaments out of the different color foil.  I've got the new red foil but I haven't even had time to open the package yet.

And then I just played around with making Christmas tags.  My sister loves to make tags to sell so I was trying out a few new designs.  I can see the sleigh one making it onto a card.  You might be able to see that I did spritz these with smooch spray.  I wish that had never retired.  I'm almost out of it.

Thursday, July 30, 2015

Here's a couple of cards that we made at convention using the new stamp set called "Your Presents"  There's boxes, bows and an ornament in the set.  It'll be great for anytime that you give someone a present.  We made the cards and decorated the envelopes.

For this card we made the envelope using the new envelope paper.  I'm trying to get into the habit of always decorating the envelopes. It just makes the card a little more special.

Fun at Convention

Here's a sneak peek at a card made with a stamp set out of the new Holiday catalog.  This is the cutest card ever.  There's a lot of vintage 1940's stuff in the catalog.  You'll love it.  You should be getting you catalog sometime in August.  If you don't just let me know and I'll get one for you.

Saturday, July 11, 2015

Here's a cute Christmas card that was inspired by the card on the bottom of page 35 in the annual catalog.  The background was embossed using the new Bohemian folder.  The little angel was made using the bow tie punch.  The snowflakes are from the perpetual calendar stamp set.  Don't have my catalog right here so I can't look up the name of the set.  The sequin trim adds just the right amount of bling.  I really like this card.  It might show up again at a Christmas stamp a stack.

Thursday, July 9, 2015

Well, I really goofed up.  On my calendar is says that my Paper Pumpkin Party is July 16th.  But I set up a Facebook event for July 15th.  So since it's on Facebook for the 15th that's when it'll be.
So what is Paper Pumpkin you ask?  Well, it's a monthly craft party in a box.  If you subscribe to Paper Pumpkin you'll receive a bright red box (like the one's in the picture) and inside the box is a paper crafting project.  It might be cards, home décor, gift packaging or something else.  It's always a paper project and it includes everything you need to put the kit together.
So are you interested?  Come to the Paper Palace (my craft studio) on July 15th and check it out.  You'll get to make some projects of your choice and see what it's all about.

So come to the Paper Palace on Weds, July 15th from 6:00 - 9:00 and have some fun.
