Your invited to a workshop.

Here's a card that I made yesterday using a stamp set that I've never used before.  It's called Cute By The Inch and it's a hostess set.  I've had this set for quite a while but I've never used it because it just didn't appeal to me.  So I decided that it was time to step up and do something with it.  And I really like this cards.  It might be cuter in some other color but with it being so close to Valentine's Day the Real Red was just sitting there staring me in the face.  

And now I'm going to show you a cute tea bag caddy.  I got the idea from Andrea Walford's blog but I changed the instructions a little because I couldn't download the PDF for some reason.  I decided to fudge a little and do my own thing. 

 I started with a sheet of Old Olive that is 12" x 10".  On the 12" side score it at 2 7/8", 5 3/4", 8 5/8" and 11 1/2".  Turn the card stock 90 degrees and score the 10" side at 2 7/8".  Now you should have 4 equal parts with one narrow part at one edge.  It's just like doing a 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 box.  Cut up to the score line on the 10" side.  Cut off the narrow part at the score line.  See the picture.  Now you're going to cut off one of the flaps but cut it about 1/2" above the score line.  See the picture.  Now just assemble the box as normal.  I made a top to go on it.  The top is a piece of card stock 4" x 4".  The score it 1" from the edge on each side.  Then on two opposite sides cut up to the score line and assemble.  Then decorate it however you want.  I only had the one stamp that had a tea cup on it so that's the one that I used.  I had to cut the tea cup on the front using some punches.  I hope this isn't to confusing but like I said it's the same as a 2 4 6 8 box but different dimensions and one of the flaps cut off.  Just give it a try.  It's not really that hard.

More valentines

At our demo meeting on Tues night Ronda showed us a cute little box and I decided to use the pattern for these little Valentine boxes.  They are just the right size for four Hershey Nuggets. 



 Here's a couple of valentine cards that I got at Leadership.  I don't know who did this one but isn't it cute?  I love Hershey kisses and I think this is just to cool.

 And here's a really cute and quick card.  Again, I don't know who made it but I like it.

And this one isn't a valentine but I was playing and brought out these flower sizzlets.  Sometimes I forget to use things that I've had for awhile.



Valentines and freebies

I was playing today and came up with this card.  The fancy stamp is one that you can get for free.  It's called Elizabeth and with a $50.00 order you can get it free. It's listed in the Sale-A-Bration mini at the very back where there's quite a few stamps out of the big catalog that you can get for free.  The bird in the center is from a hostess set called Silhouette Sentiments. 

 And by now you should be making Valentine cards like crazy.  After all, Valentines day is only a week away.  This stamp set is "XOXO".  It's in the occasions mini.  I got this card at Leadership and I don't have it handy to see if there's a name on the back. 

Tomorrow night is our regular Rubber Queens meeting and I designed my swap cards based on a set out of the Occasions mini.  I don't have the stamp set that I wanted to use so I ordered it last week.  Should be here in plenty of time, right?  Well on Thrus last week it was in Wyoming, Mi.  Well it didn't get tere on
Friday so I decided that because of the weather it would get here today.  No such luck.  So I got online and checked on it and it said that it's now in Toledo, Ohio.  So I probably won't get it tomorrow either.  Don't you just love winter.

The last of my projects

This is my last post about last weeks Sale-A-Bration event.  Or at least the last of my projects.  I'm not sure what this first one is called.  Maybe it doesn't even have a name but it's a picture frame with a foam board backing.  I covered the foam board with fabric and then added the ribbon in a criss cross pattern.  You can't see it in these pictures but at every place where the ribbon crossed I put a brad to hold the ribbon in place.  Then just add some cards or whatever you would like to display.  Here I've got a couple of 3 x 3 cards, a fabric broach, a hair clip and a bracelet.  

 Here's one of the 3 x 3 cards.  I used the adhesive sheet on the back of the fabric and then run it through the Big Shot with the new Fun Flowers die.  The button in the center is one of the free buttons from the Sale-A-Bration mini.

 This is also cut out on the Big Shot. 

 I really need a new camers.  This is the hair clip and you can hardly see it.  I cut the flowers out on the Big Shot and then sprayed them with spray starch, scrunched them up and then spread them out and let them dry.

 And at last we're nearing the end.  Here's a couple of cards with fabric on them.  This one has just an oblong piece of fabric attached with sticky strip and finished with the Sew Suite stamp set.

 And this last card has fabric flowers attached with the adhesive sheet and cut out on the Big Shot.  How simple.

It's snowing AGAIN!!!  What's up with all this snow.  I was suspose to get an order from Stampin Up! on Friday and it still isn't here because of the big storm.  I sure hope it comes tomorrow because I need it before Tues. night. I will be so glad when spring comes this year.

My fabric projects

For my Inspiration table at the Sale-A-Bration event last Sat. I showed things you can do with the new Stampin Up! fabric, Springtime Vintage and Sweet Stitches.  These fabric's are in the Occasions Mini.  This first project is a laptop bag.  I thought that it would be so simple to make with a pattern.  I've been sewing since I was 10 years old but the last few years the only sewing I've done is repairs and quilts.  So I was totally unprepared for the fact that I couldn't figure the pattern out.  I finally threw that pattern away and decided to wing it.  So this is just a quilted piece of material stitched up on the sides with a zipper on the top.  I used the Springtime Vintage to decorate the bag.  In this picture you can see that I put pockets on one side.  It would be nice with pockets on the inside too but I didn't put any there. 

 This is the other side of the bag decorated with fabric and the cool buttons that match the fabric.  Now I have a one of a kind bag that is totally feminine.  I offered to make one for my brother but there was no response.

 This next bag was suspose to be to carry mini's in but I measured it wrong so it's to narrow.  Oh well, I think a wine bottle will fit just right.

 And here's one of the simplest things to do with fabric.  Stampin Up! sells the adhesive that you just iron on the fabric.  Then just run it through the Big Shot with your favorite die and presto chango.  A new shirt.

 And a couple of years ago when Stampin Up! added the Sizzix to their product line we could get these cute Build A Bears at convention.  Well my bear was just hanging around in only an apron so I decided that she needed a dress.

 The only problem is that Build A Bear has a paten on the clothes and I couldn't find a pattern for teddy bear clothes that fit.  Then someone said that the American Girl patterns would fit, around.  They are way to long because the dolls are much taller than the bears.  So this dress is a top that I still had to cut about 2" off at the bottom.  But she looks much nicer with clothes.

 And here's a cute holder for all the little things that are always wandering around on my craft table.  This is made using a Simplicity pattern # 2450.  I had a little trouble figuring out the pattern but now that I've done one I know that it's really quite easy.  I just hadn't done much sewing lately.  This fits right inside a mug.

 This is what it looks like when it's laying flat on the table.  There's velcro strips to fasten it once it's inside the mug.  And I love this Tangerine Tango fabric.  It reminds me of Dick and Jane from my first reader in school.
