Simply Adorned Charms class

I told you a few weeks ago that I would have a class for the Simply Adorned Charms and I'm finally getting things around. The class will be on June 25th but you will have to RSVP by June 16th so that I can order the supplies. You can scroll down to May 7th to see pictures of the charms and some charm inserts. These inserts are not necessarily the ones that we'll be making in class. The cost will be as follows.
1" x 11/4" charm and 13 charm inserts is 22.50
1" x 11/4" charm and 24"chain and 13 inserts is $35.00
1" x 11/4" charm and 34" chain and 13 inserts is $37.50.
I've seen these charms going for much higher prices and you couldn't change the insert.

Spring Song

Here's a card that I did after my last card class. I always try to finish up any leftovers but I almost always change them to thank you cards. Anyway, I've had this stamp set for a while but this is the first time that I've used it. I'm so bad about buying things and then being so slow about using them. But here it is. I love the hummingbird. I tried to make it as realistic as possible. I used my blender pens to color it. I think it turned out pretty good.

More Big Shot and Fabric

This is continuing the previous post about the Big Shot and fabric. We all got to make some quilt blocks to bring home with us. This first one uses both the scallop square die and the scallop circles die.

The block above and the one below both use the 5 point star die.

The really cool thing about the quilts is that there's not much sewing on them. The blocks that we made have no sewing at all, so far. You just lay your material out and then glue down the pieces using the Anywhere Glue Stick. Then, when the quilt is quilted everything gets sewn down. You just sew about 1/4" inside the edge and when the quilt is washed you have a rag quilt. And if you look at the last picture from yesterday you'll see that the center part of the quilt is one big piece instead of blocks. But if you want to quilt it youself and you only have a regular machine then you could make the blocks and quilt them before you put the blocks together.

The Big Shot and Fabric

Last Friday night I attended an event in Zeeland in which Jill Olson was the guest speaker and showed us many quilts made with the Big Shot. Here's a few of her quilts. This first one is using the scallop frame die, only the inner oval. This one is using the scallop square die.

And this one uses the scallop circle dies. We all got the pattern to make this one.

Simply Adorned Charms and Chains

You know how sometimes you see something and you think "that doesn't really do anything for me" and then you see it in real life and you screaming " I gotta have it". Well, that's the way I was with the Simply Adorned Charms. The pictures in the catalog don't really show how beautiful these are. But when I saw one at convention last year I knew that I would be getting some. Well I've finally got a couple of them and they are great. This picture is of the 5/8" square charm and bracelet and the 1 x 1 1/4" rectangle charm. Here's the other side of the charms. This picture shows the beveled glass really well. Only one side is beveled. The small charm is not beveled. Not quite big enough but it's still beautiful.

And the really wonderful thing about these is that you can change the insert in the charms. Now you can have one necklace or bracelet that goes with anything or any season. You just make your own inserts and change them as often as you like. Here's some that I've made and I just signed up for a charm insert swap so I'll be getting lots more.

Most of these were stamped but the second one in the middle row is just paper cut to fit so even if your not real crafty you can still have a beautiful necklace. Not that I'm saying the skull is beautiful but I thought that it would be great for Halloween. I plan on making inserts for every holiday.

AND I plan on doing a class for these. Details will be posted in a couple of days. These will make great presents and graduation is coming up.

Yesterday Ted, Deb and I went to Dow Gardens. He had never been there and I knew he would like it. He works very hard keeping his garden beautiful and I thought he should see whan can be done on a grand scale. It was warm and quite humid but at least it didn't rain while we were there. If you ever get the chance you should go. It's beautiful at all times of the year but especially in the spring.

Spring Fling make n takes

Yesterday was our Spring Fling event with the Rubber Queens. Here are the make and takes that we did. These are all using the Island Oasis designer series paper, the Island Floral Bigz Die and the Island Oasis party favor boxes.
This is a box with notes cards. The box front and back are made of chip board. The little note cards fit right inside the box. The Island Oasis paper is so bright and cherry that it made the rainy day seem a lot better.

This is one of the little party favor boxes. Wouldn't you love to go to a party or event and find this little box filled with goodies just for you?

This is decorated stationary. We started with a full sheet of card stock. Then folded it in thirds and decorated the inside and the outside. Of course you'll notice that the first picture is the inside of the folded page and below is the outside of the page. Think how happy someone would be to receive a letter written on such cute paper.

Now comes a card made with the Bigz Die and a little purse that has a cello bag in it to hold candy or some other small gift item. You probably noticed that we used a lot of Old Olive satin ribbon. This ribbon is so beautiful and easy to use. And we also used some of the filigree brads.

And the little purse used the new Square Lattice embossing folder. This gives the paper a beautiful texture. It almost looks like cloth.

Now I have to get busy for card class this week.
