Tigers Valentine Box

Tiger and Beth stopped on their way home from school this morning to make a Valentine's box.  The teacher said that the "box" just needed to be a container that the kids could put Valentine's in so I gave him this empty Tootsie Roll jar that I had kept.  I told Beth that they could use anything they wanted out of my retired stash and this is what they made.  Do you think he'll have the cutest one in school?

And here's a close up of the valentine tree on the jar.

Valentine hearts

I kept thinking that there should be a way to make heart shaped rosettes and guess what?  Someone figured it out and posted the instructions online.  So I made a couple and attached them to this card.  I'm planning on making a wreath for Valentines day with heart rosettes instead of just round rosettes.  And the good news is that it's not hard to make them.  Just go ahead and cut your paper and score it like always.  For the hearts above I used paper that was 12" long and 1 1/2" high.  Then fold the strip in two and cut it out like the picture below.

After you cut it out then fold the strip on all the score lines.  Then when you flatten the rosette make sure that the cut edge is to the outside of the rosette.  It's as clear as mud, right?  If you need more instructions let me know and I'll email them to you.

If you've been studying the new Spring catalog you've probably noticed that there are lots of accessories in there.  So here's a couple of different ones used as something other than card embellishments.  This first picture shows the Designer Build A Brad that is on page 12 in the mini.  There's a card there showing these brads but I used them a little differently.  Here's a necklace and earrings that I made.  It was really easy to get the prongs off the back of the brad.  The crown is from the set called Itty Bitties.

This next set is made out of the bottle caps that are on page 24.  There's a couple of cards there that use the caps as embellishments.  Here's the necklace and earring set that I made.  The bottle caps are real easy to flatten.  Just run them through your Big Shot without any tabs.  It's best to do one at a time.  The image on the earrings is from the Itty Bitties and the images on the necklace are both from the Collage Curios that is also on page 24 in the mini.  On these I adhered the image and then I coated it with Crystal Effects.  You need to let them dry overnight.  And the image is a little blurry because of the Crystal Effects.  If you don't want the image to smear then you could emboss the image.  And I punched the hole using the 1/16" punch.  It was a little hard to punch so you might need to ask someone for help.

There are lots of accessories in the Spring catalog and I hope to show you more of these as time goes on.  Some of them are really cool.  And don't forget that right now if you spend $50.00 you get to pick something out of the Sale A Bration mini for free.

Sale A Bration started today.

I can't believe I'm so far behind.  I guess taking a vacation isn't the best idea for me.  I need a vacation from the vacation to get my brain back on track.  So anyway, today is the first day of Sale-A-Bration and I decided to post a few cards that were made using FREE stamp sets.
This first one features the "Vintage Verses" stamp set. I got this card in a swap from Lynette Fresn.

This next card also use "Vintage Verses".  Tamie Ackerson made this cute card.  Notice that she also used the new hexagon embossing folder out of the Spring catalog.

This is from my favorite free stamp set "Feeling Sentimental".  I used the phone booth out of this set for one of my swaps at Leadership and then forgot to take a picture of it.  This card was made by Pam Knowles.

This next card also used "Feeling Sentimental".  This one is by Brenda Suchy.

And finally one of my own designs.  This set is called "Blooming Marvelous".  And the ribbon is out of the Spring catalog.  It's the two toned Pink Pirouette/Rose Red ribbon.

So this is  a sample of some of the free stuff that you can get during Sale A Bration.  I'm hoping that I'll get lots more samples posted.  Hopefully you've all got a Sale A Bration brochure and the new Spring catalog.  But if you haven't gotten them yet please let me know and I'll get one to you ASAP.  There's tons of cute new stuff in both of these publications.  And I've got a lot of it out in the Paper Palace so if you want to see and feel everything please come and see me.

Best of 25 Years.

This is Stampin' Up! 25th year of being in business.  And to celebrate they are bringing back some golden oldies each month.  And some new stamps too.  And the best part is that you will get a collector's card and stickers with each set.  When you have six stickers on your collector's card you can redeem it for any stamp set priced at $14.95 or less.
These sets will all be available until March 2014 and you will have until April 2014 to redeem your free set.  This first set is all birthday stamps and I'm thinking about doing a stamp camp with these stamps.  Let me know what you think.
Check out the new Best of 25 stamp set for January here. http://www.stampinup.com/us/documents/DEMO_Best_of_Birthdays_25th_Year_flyer_NA.pdf
I wish I was more computer savvy but I'm not so I hope this works for you.

Well I guess it's time to get back in the saddle.  I've had a great time here at Disney World but tomorrow it's back to the cold and snow.  So I decided to start posting some swaps that I got at Leadership.  And to announce a new class.  I'm calling it a valentine class but the cards could be used for weddings or just "Thinking of You".  We'll be using the Amour designer series paper that is in the spring catalog.  So the class is on Jan 31 but you'll have to let me know by Jan 24th if you want to take the class.  We'll be making 4 cards for $12.00 and this includes a pack of the DSP.  You should be able to make 24 card fronts using the trick that I'm going to show you.  Then just put the fronts on the card stock of your choice and your good to go.  Add some stamping and embellishments and you've got some really cute cards.
I;m starting home in the morning so please try and have it warm up.

Here's Sandi at the pajama party that Stampin' Up! had last night.  It was a general session but there were probably about 3/4 of the people there had their pj's on.  It was so much fun and so comfortable.  And it was a great general session because we all won something.
And yesterday they announced a new program.  Check out http://mypaperpumpkin.com
You can subscribe to get a stamping kit in the mail each month.  And you can stop the prescription at any time.  Just think how great this will be for people who aren't sure they want to stamp.  And it'll make great birthday presents.  So check it out and when I get home I'll post some pictures, because of course we all got one of the kits so we can show people.

This is the first thing that you see when you enter Hogsmead Village in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  I'm a Harry Potter nut so I really enjoyed this.  The first ride that Ronda wanted to try was the one at the castle.  I asked a couple of people how they liked it and they said that if you had motion sickness or got sea sick "don't ride it".  So I took the chicken exit but it was the best ride que I've ever seen because you have to go all the way through the castle.  The dungeons, some of the class rooms, Dumbledore's office and past the Fat Lady's portrait.  If you want to see more pictures check out the Paper Palace Facebook page.
We haven't had any sessions yet but we've seen tons of new product and now I have to place an order.  Plus so far I've gotten three free stamp sets but two of them I get to pick out of the catalog.  Well it's time to jump in the shower so I'll try to post some more tonight.

Today was a great day at Leadership.  Lots of displays, demonstrations, free stamp sets, etc.  The pictures are on the Paper Palace Facebook page.  Check them out.
Welcome to sunny Florida.  This is the view from our window this morning.  It's really quite warm but it cools off at night and thus we have fog.  Yesterday when I got here about 3:30 it was about 80 degrees and humid.  I like it better than Michigan but it could be a little cooler and I'd like it even better.

Today is kind of a slow day.  Until tonight.  Then I get to go and see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  That makes the whole trip worthwhile.  This afternoon we can go to the convention center and pick up our materials packet.  Can't wait to see what the Take and Makes are like.  Yes, I said Take and Makes.  We won't be doing them here.  We take them home and make them.  But since this the 25th anniversary of Stampin' Up! I'm sure they have something wonderful planned.
Here's the first of my three swap cards that I did.  Please don't ask me what the stamp set is because I don't have a catalog with me.  Take my word for it that this set is in the Spring catalog.  The designer paper is also in the spring catalog.  The ribbon is Primrose Petals and I used the lattice die to cut the fancy lattice.  I haven't used it much but I think I will now.  I like the look.

Well, it's 8:30 and Sandi hasn't stirred yet so I guess it's time to start making noise.  This afternoon I hope to get tons of pictures and ideas to post later.

Finally figured out how to get pictures back into my blog.  Never heard anything from Google but on another web site someone had posted how to do it. It seems like there's alsways someone who knows what to do. So here is another card made using things from the spring catalog.  You can order out of that catalog right now and on Jan 22 you'll earn sale a bration items with a $50.00 order.
The stamp set used here is called Hearts a Flutter and then I used the Hearts a Flutter framelits die to cut it out.  And the doily is out of the spring catalog also.  You get 24 doilies for $2.95.
And now that I've figured out how to post pictures I'll try to post everyday while I'm in Florida.

Blog update.

Well, I tried.  I wanted to update my blog but blogger is having problems and won't let me upload any pictures.  And there's a great Valentine Special going on right now so I guess you'll have to go to Facebook to see the special.  Just look for Paper Palace Stampers.  You should be able to see it.  The special is a single Valentine stamp and 50 of the 1" x 8" cello bags for $5.95 and then you'll get the Sealed With Love Simply Sent kit for free.  You can see the kit in the Holiday mini on page 35.  Hope you can see the Facebook page.  And I hope that blogger gets things back in working order soon.  I'm leaving Tues for Orlando and I'll want to post lots of pictures from there.

Another Henry Says

Here's another card made with the "Henry Says" stamp set.  This set is very versatile.  There's a couple of stamps for Christmas, valentines, birthday, a couple of hats and a banner.  You really need this set.  I'll be making birthday cards for boys and girls with it.

Wednesday, January 2, 2013

Well, it's a new year but I'm not making any resolutions.  It seems like they just fall by the way side.  So I'll just say that I'm going to try to  be more consistant in posting to this  blog.  Here's a cute card made with a set out of the new spring catalog.  It's called "Henry Says".  You know how sometimes you look at a set and think "I don't really think I'll get this" and then you see cards done with it and decide that you have to have it.  That's the way that I was with this set.  But we used this set last month at Ronda's baggie book class and the cards are so cute that now I have to have it.  It'll make a ton of cute kids cards.

I ended the old year on a good note.  New tv and vcr player.  Good times on New Years Eve with friends.  And then yesterday I loaded the washer and when it started to spin out water started leaking out.  So I had to turn it off and dip the water out and today I'm going to the laundro mat.  I'm going to see if I can find a repair man to check it out but it might be old age.  I think it's at least 35 years old.  It's had a good, long life so maybe it's time for a new one.
