Christmas Ornament

Here's my version of the Christmas ornament that's featured on the front cover of the Holiday mini.  I was thinking about having a class for this but then I tried it.  Do you know how much work is in this?  You need to stamp 20 of each color ornament.  And then you need to cut them out using the edgelits.  It takes quite a while.  And then you need to make the rosette that's on the top.  So I guess I won't be offering a class but if you want to try this please let me know and we'll pick a time for you to come and make it

Conventon 2012

Check out the Paper Palace Stampers on Facebook to see 386 photo's of art from convention.

Card class

Here are the cards that we did at card class yesterday.  There were 19 ladies here and we had a great day.

This first card is using a new set called Rejoicing With You.  Simple but elegant.

This horse is from the set Horse Frontier.  I used this card as one of my swaps at convention.

This card is a copy of a swap that I got at convention.

And sometimes I come up with my own designs.  The booties are from Baby Boutique.

This stamp set, Daydream Medallions, is one that we received at convention.

And here is this years Ronald McDonald set.  It's called Moving Forward and this year Stampin' Up! is donating $3.00 from every set sold to Ronald McDonald House charities.  It's on page 209 in the big book.

Here is a little candy bar wrapper.  The Floral Frames framelits were used to cut out the flower.  Then just score and fold up.  If you have a bigger candy bar just use the bigger framelit.

This card is also a copy of a convention swap.  It doesn't show up much but the doily is cut out of the silver glimmer paper.  I've heard a lot of people complain about this sizzlet but I think that the more you use it the better it works.  Hope you've enjoyed these cards.

Tamie
We're all having a ball at convention.  Everyone should come at least one time.  But then you'd want to come every year.  It seems like we've just started and tomorrow is the last day.  Last night was awards night and the Rubber Queens were very honored when Ronda was chosen again to serve on the Advisory Board.  And while I didn't get any big awards I did get a pin for recruiting and one for leadership.  And I get two free stamps sets of my choise out of the books.  I'm still not sure what I'll get.  Tonight was a free night so Sandi, Laurie, Eleanor and I went to the Cheesecake Factory for supper.  But I was the only one who got cheesecake for dessert.  I had the Key Lime and it was delicious.  I also went to the Pandora store and got a bracelet with one bead on it.  Now I can have the fun of adding to it.  Well it's almost my bedtime.  I've been asleep every night by 10:30.  I'll have to go home in order to rest.

Awards night at convention

One of the biggest thrills for people who win awards is Awards Night.  They get their prized announced and get to go up on stage.  These pictures are not the best because they were taken on the big television monitors.

Amy Frilici (sp??) won the Weekend Getaway.

Kim Vogel won the Weekend Getaway and was also a Rising Star.

Ronda Wade, Melissa Roberts and Tamie Ackerson won the Grand Vacation, which is a trip to Fiji.

And the best part was that Ronda was picked to serve on the Advisory Council again.  Here she's with Shelli Gardner, the head of the company.
We're having a great time but I wish there were more hours in the day.  By the time we get back to our rooms I'm so tired that I just go to bed.  Last night after the award there was a party but we only stayed long enough to get something to eat and drink and then we came back to the room.  But I have been taking tons of pictures so someday I'll get them posted.

Beautiful paper crafts

Here are some pictures of some of the paper crafts that are on disply at convention.

Sandi had a class tonight so I went back to the City Creek Mall and went to the Pandora store.  Anyone got a thousand dollars they'd like to give me?  But just for being in the store and mentioning that I was with Stampin Up! I got a Godiva Chocolate.  It was free.

City Creek Mall

This is where we went yesterday after we checked into the hotel.  This is a beautiful outdoor mall with some really cool stores.  We had lunch at the Red Iguana.  Then we went to Swarski, Tiffany's and Pandora.  Checked out some other stores but I don't remember the names of the stores.  Today I went back for lunch at a place called The Blue Lemon and then I went to the Brighton store and Nordstrom's.  The weather here is great.  Pretty warm but there's a real nice breeze.

Maybe I'll have time later to post some stampin pictures.

Killing Time

I'm just sitting around in the airport in Denver killing time.  When I booked this flight I never looked at how much time there was between flights.  So in a few minutes I'm going to go and find something to eat.  I've been up since 3:00am and now it's 11:00am.  (Michigan time).  Still a couple of hours before my flight.
So here's a cute card that my sister showed me and I used it at the last card class.  This card is generic and it would be just as cute in green and yellow.

I'll be posting all week from convention.  And on Saturday there is going to be a big announcement from Stampin' Up! so check back for that.  If you're a Stampin' Up! demo you can see the announcement live on the Stampin' Up! web site.

Somehow I've gotten totally out of the groove.  I think it was the vacation last week and then coming home to no power.  But there is some good news.  I've got all my swaps done for convention and to celebrate I went to Lansing today and bought some new clothes for convention.  I didn't really need them but, like a little kid, I wanted them.  So I think I'm ready for convention.  And this weekend we have two family reunions to take up my time.
But I do have a couple of cards to show you.  These cards use the stamp set "Embellished Events".  This is a very versitile set for anyone but I think it's great for beginners becasue there's a great variety of stamps in the set.

It doesn't show up very well but there's a Dahlia on this card.  I love those little flowers.

Papaya Collage

Here are three cards made with the new Papaya Collage stamp set.  We did these cards at Ronda's new catalog kickoff.  I'm just really slow getting things posted.

No power

I'm sitting at McDonalds because I have no power at home.  So it's been a bad week for blogging.  I was up at my brother's cabin until Friday.  Then I came home because I had a class reunion on Friday night.  I was home about 1/2 hour when the power went off.  Now the power hadn't gone out during the storm so I checked with the neighbors and no one had power.  Called Consumers and reported it.  Later we found out that a Consumer tree trimmer, working in Elsie, had dropped a limb on the line.  So now it's Sunday morning and we still don't have power.  The estimate for restoration is tonight at 11:30pm.  Bummer.  When I get some power back I'll do some posting.  After a shower.  And some laundre.  Oh well, such is life.  Just glad it happened now and not when I'm trying to get ready to leave for convention.  The only good thing about it is that I now have all my swap cards done for Tues. meeting and convention.  It was cooler in the Paper Palace than anywhere else.  And the reunion was great.  Went to my cousin's house to take a shower on Friday afternoon.  Haven't had one since but Laurel will be home this afternoon so if the power doesn't come back on soon I'll be at her door begging for water.

A 3-D project or a stocking stuffer??

Here’s the 3-D project that we did last Thurs.  You can use any size notepad from small to large.  Then you just need to pick out a topper.  In this picture we used the large framelit from the set called Apothecary Accents.  The only thing that you need to be real careful about is that you don’t want to adhere the topper to the note paper.  Be sure to stick it only to the top of the note pad.  We added ribbon and a paper flower but in the second picture I had a flower and a tag.

In this picture can you see that I layered the framelit?  It's really easy to do.  Just lay the framelit face up and trace around it.  You have to cut it out by hand but it doesn't have a lot of small curves so it's not to bad to do.  And can you see the piercing on the tag?  The template is from our new paper piercing pack.  With the template it's really easy to do.
These notebooks will make great teacher gifts or stocking stuffers.  I found a pack of notebooks that are only 3" x 4" and they're in different colors.  They'll make great gifts.
