Upside down??

This is a card that I posted a while back but I wanted to show it again because there's a problem with it.  I made these for all my great nieces and nephews for Easter.  On Easter Sunday when the kids got their cards my brother took one look at it and asked why the carrot was upside down.  What do you think?  I even used this card in card class and no one told me it was upside down.  It seems that if your a gardener you would know that the green top grows out of the rounded end of the carrot, not the pointed end.  Oh well, the Easter Bunny that I deal with is a little different and he didn't tell me that.

And here's another swap card that I got from kirsten Whitman.  It's really quite simple but so elegant.  And it's a beautiful Mother's Day card.  Mother's Day is coming up fast.  Are you ready?

More Swaps

As I promised here are a couple more swap cards.  And you'll notice that it was a couple of days before I got around to doing this.  This first card is by Carrie Juhas.  The light brown piece of paper is actually the paper that comes in our order boxes from Stampin Up!  It's in there just for extra packing so things don't shift around to much.  Carrie just wadded it up and then flattened it out and run it through the Big Shot.  Recycling in it's best form.

This next card is by Laurie Gibson.  I love her work and you can follow her by looking over on the right hand side of my blog under "my blog list" to find her web site.  This stamp set is out of the summer mini and it's called The Open Sea.  We'll be using this set at my next card class.

That's it for today and I won't even talk about posting tomorrow because it's Easter.  I won't be thinking about this blog at all and neither should you.  Hope you all have a great day and a wonderful dinner and lots of candy from the Easter Bunny.

Swap cards

Since I haven't been very creative this week I've decided to post some swap cards from last week's Rubber Queen meeting.  We have a very talented group of ladies so I hope you enjoy these cards.  I'll post a couple each time.  Notice I didn't say "every day".  At the rate I've been posting it might be awhile.
Anyway, this first card is from Tamie Ackerson.  It features a new stamp set out of the Summer mini called Sail Away.  I love this card.  If you haven't received your summer mini yet please let me know because you should have it by now.
The next card is by Jill Briggs.  It features some new Designer Series Paper called Beyond The Garden.  It's also available in the summer mini.  Hope you've enjoyed these cards.

More Make & Takes

Here are a couple more of the make & takes that we did Tues night at our Rubber Queens meeting.  This first one uses a stamp set out of the summer mini called Sail Away.  This is such a great set for making masculine cards.

This next card is using a new embossing folder called Flower Garden.  You'll love this folder.  It's heavier than our other folders and it embossing really deep.  In fact, you won't need to use the extra flaps on your Big Shot platform.  But there is one little problem.  When you get your summer mini you might notice that the picture in the mini looks like the embossed image should be on the left hand side when actually it's on the right hand side.  The reason that the flowers look white is because it's embossed on card stock vellum and layed over Daffodil Delight.
The words on both of these cards are from a set called Happy Greetings.  It's also in the summer mini.  So be watching for the mini if you want any of these new items.

Rubber Queens Meeting

Tues. was our regular meeting and here's the first of the make & takes that we did.  It's a little gift bag.  I'm giving the dimensions for this one but you can change the size to anything that you want.  Start with a gift or lunch bag that is 6" wide.  Then cut the top off so that it is 5" high.  Now cut some designer paper into one piece that is 6" x 5" and another piece that is 6" x 7".  The smaller piece goes on the front of the bag and the larger piece goes on the back of the bag.  Fold the excess down to make the flap.  Add some decoration and presto, you've got a cute gift bag.

Here's the bag open.  If you wanted to make it a little different then turn over one piece of your designer paper so that when the bag is closed you'll see both sides of the paper.

Tomorrow I'll post another project.

What can I say?

I know that it's been a week since I've posted but I'm still not back in the groove.  My knee is sore all the time.  And I have to wear this hot, tight, itchy elastic stocking.  And the worse thing is that I like to sleep on my side and I just can't find a comfortable position.  I'm ususally up at least once during the night just to walk around and get the kinks out. But it really is getting better so no more whining.
I made these cards on Sat. I saw a card online where they used the Dotted Scollop Ribbon Border punch to make a little frame. I really liked it so I had to try one out. These are the cards that I came up with.   This first one is a little square card.  I think that I started with a pink piece of card stock that is 3 X 3.  It made a perfect frame.

On this next card I started with a bigger piece of card stock and trimmed the center out.

And this one uses the same size card stock but I left the center in the piece.  I just think this is a cute way to make a picture frame.  This little bear card is going to be one of my next card class cards so if you want one like this plan on coming to card class.

Grab bags and sneek peeks

I'm so out of the groove.  I've not been paying attention and last night it finally dawned on me that I had missed a couple of things that Stampin Up is offering right now.
The first thing that's being offered is a grab bag.  The grab bags are filled with retired items from previous catalogs.  And they're a great deal.  A $5.00 bag has at least $20.00 worth of merchandise.  A$10.00 bag is worth $40.00 and a $15.00 bag is worth $60.00.   You can order as many as you want but quanities are limited so when they are gone, they're gone.  So if you want to take a chance you need to do it ASAP.  These grab bags will NOT contain stamp sets or tools.  It'll be ribbon, accents and elements, DSP, chipboard, parts of simply sent kits, etc.
You can order right from my Stampin Up! web site by clicking the Shop Now button on the right or just let me know and I'll order it for you.

The second special that is going on right now is a sneek peek at the new catalog that will be coming out in July.  If you place a $20.00 order during the month of April then you can oder the Four Frames stamp set and the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper. Or if you host a workshop of $350.00 then you get both for free.

I already have both of these and if you came to my last card class you got to use them.  And I'm sure that we'll be using them again this month.  Come and check them out.
